Xiaomi announces the Mi Mix 3 5G phone

Xiaomi has joined the 5G smartphone manufacturer list. The Chinese major just announced its first smartphone which is included with a 5G modem at a media conference at MWC 2019 in Barcelona.

The Chinese major is trying to develop a punch-hole display or a top notch. Xiaomi has opted for a sliding front-facing camera. The result is more than 93 percent screen-to-body ratio. Two cameras can be found on the rear of the new device, which gives you the capability to shoot at slow-motion videos in 960 frames per second.

The device is likely to be available in May 2019 for approx Pounds Sterling 600 (US Dollars 786) in 2 color variants — Onyx Black and Sapphire Blue. Whether any 5G network will be ready at that time, let’s see.

There are a couple of changes from the newest device. Xiaomi has replaced the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 system-on-a-chip with a Snapdragon 855 system-on-a-chip. If it has to do with the modem, the company is using Qualcomm’s X-50 5G modem.

Chipmaker Qualcomm’s president stole a little of the thunder of Xiaomi by naming the Mi Mix 3 5G first during a twist on stage at the press conference because of a Xiaomi partner.

Amon took the ability to give a muscular sales-pitch asserting the tech would come faster than the transition from 3G to 4G/LTE and bring benefits for users touting the likes of top gambling on consoles. That’s because 5G should greatly reduce latency and improve on the web gaming.

“5G is here. In 2020, not in 2020 — it in 20-19. 2019 is the season of 5G,” he promised, implying 5G device launches would be fast-followed by commercial 5G services since the 2nd half this year. On device AI may also receive a boost from 5G, Amon indicated, arguing that”every” program will be able to leverage machine learning as a result of reduced latency.

“You can unleash the energy of the cloud to get every app and service,” he said.

“5G will enhance significantly the way we consider our phones,” he added. “Everything will get better.”

There are now 224 million monthly Xiaomi smartphone users globally. While Xiaomi phones are not available in the U.S., you can now buy Xiaomi phones in Spain, the UK, France, and Italy in addition to many Asian markets.
