OnePlus unveils new range of OnePlus 9 Series 5G smartphones

Global technology company OnePlus unveiled its most advanced flagship smartphones yet on 23rd March 2021 with the OnePlus 9 Series, featuring a top-tier flagship camera experience with the Hasselblad Camera for Mobile system, next-generation high refresh rate displays and fast wireless charging technology that outperforms the wired charging solutions of its competitors. Additionally, OnePlus also introduced its first connected wearable for global markets, the OnePlus Watch, offering up to two weeks of battery life, multiple health and activity tracking features, and a sleek and stylish design.

The new series is called as OnePlus 9 series. The recently launched OnePlus 9 Series includes three smartphones- OnePlus 9 Pro, OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9R. Alongwith the OnePlus 9 Series, the Company has announced launch of its first ever smartwatch OnePlus Watch for ₹ 14,999.

The OnePlus 9 Series is OnePlus’ biggest leap forward in camera quality, achieved through its long-term partnership with legendary professional camera manufacturer Hasselblad, whose cameras have immortalized some of the most iconic faces and events in modern history – including man’s first steps on the moon. OnePlus’ new flagship camera system, Hasselblad Camera for Mobile, brings multiple breakthroughs in smartphone photography, centered around the company’s new standard for smartphone color performance – Natural Color Calibration with Hasselblad – and premium hardware for improved image quality. The OnePlus 9 Series also offers powerful performance with the latest Qualcomm® SnapdragonTM 888 mobile platform, the superior Fluid Display 2.0 with a DisplayMate A+ rating, and industry-challenging fast charging solutions, Warp Charge 65T and Warp Charge 50 Wireless.

OnePlus 9 Pro – 5G for ₹ 64 999

Co-developed with Hasselblad, the exclusive Hasselblad Camera for Mobile delivers multiple breakthroughs including Natural Color Calibration. The ultra-flagship camera blends the technological excellence of OnePlus and the legacy of Hasselblad. With the OnePlus 9 Pro, taking Your Best Shot is now effortless.

The new smartphone series features the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and a ‘burdenless design’ with three colour options for each phone. OnePlus is also extending 5G support on both devices for ultra-fast network connectivity and gaming. Notably, the regular OnePlus 9 now features a 120Hz display though it still lacks wireless charging support. The company has collaborated with Swedish camera maker Hasselblad to offer a professional camera experience. Both devices come pre-loaded with the Hasselblad Pro Mode, which allows users to adjust ISO, exposure time and more.

The OnePlus 9 Pro features a relatively larger 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display with Ultra-HD (4K) resolution and adaptive refresh rate that can adjust automatically between 1Hz to 120Hz, to preserve battery. Under the hood, it also carries the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It runs on Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 out of the box.

The quad rear camera setup includes a 48-megapixel primary camera with OIS support and f/1.8 aperture, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture, an 8-megapixel telephoto shooter with f/2.4 aperture, and a 2-megapixel monochrome camera. At the front, there’s a 16-megapixel shooter with EIS support and f/2.4 aperture. The camera app supports the same modes as OnePlus 9. However, the primary capable of shooting 4K videos at 120fps. Other notable features on the smartphones include 5G, under-display fingerprint sensor, NFC, and face unlock. The OnePlus 9 Pro also comes with a 4,500mAh dual-cell battery that supports 65W fast charging. It also supports 50W fast charging that is touted to fully charge the device in 43 minutes. The main packaging includes the 65W charging brick.

OnePlus 9 – 5G from ₹ 49 999

The OnePlus 9 sports a 6.55-inch Full-HD+ (2400×1080 pixels) AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 20:9 aspect ratio. The screen comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass layer for protection and supports up to 1100 nits of peak brightness with HDR10+ support for a rich viewing experience. Under the hood, it packs the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The phone runs on Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 out of the box.

The triple rear camera system houses a 48-MP primary camera with EIS support and f/1.8 aperture. There’s also a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel monochrome camera. For selfies, the OnePlus 9 carries a 16-megapixel shooter with EIS support. The primary camera is capable of shooting 4K videos at 60fps and 8K videos at 30fps. The camera app comes preloaded with modes like nightscape, super macro, ultra-shot HDR, smart scene recognition, portrait mode, pro mode, panorama, tilt-shift mode, among many more. The camera app also features a Hasselblad Pro Mode that lets users adjust ISP range, white balance, and more manually, for a professional camera experience.

Other notable features on the smartphone include 5G, an under-display fingerprint sensor, a dual-cell 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W Warp Charge fast charging solution. The phone is said to attain full battery in less than 30 minutes with the OnePlus 65W charger, included in the box. The OnePlus 9 comes in Winter Mist, Arctic Sky and Astral Black colour options. Its price starts at ₹ 49,999 for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant and goes up to ₹ 54,999 for the 12GB + 256GB storage variant.

OnePlus 9R – from ₹39 999

The OnePlus 9R phone comes with a 6.55-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels at a pixel density of 402 pixels per inch (ppi) and an aspect ratio of 20:9. OnePlus 9R is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor. It comes with 8GB of RAM. The OnePlus 9R runs Android 11 and is powered by a 4500mAh battery. The OnePlus 9R supports proprietary fast charging.

As far as the cameras are concerned, the OnePlus 9R on the rear packs a 48-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.7 aperture; a 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture; a 5-megapixel camera, and a 2-megapixel camera. The rear camera setup has autofocus. It sports a 16-megapixel camera on the front for selfies with an f/2.4 aperture and a pixel size of 1.0-micron.

The OnePlus 9R runs Oxygen OS is based on Android 11 and packs 128GB of inbuilt storage. The OnePlus 9R is a dual-SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM cards. The OnePlus 9R measures 161.00 x 74.10 x 8.40mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 189.00 grams. It was launched in Carbon Black and Lake Blue colours.

Connectivity options on the OnePlus 9R include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/Yes, GPS, Bluetooth v5.10, NFC, USB Type-C, 3G, and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass/ magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and in-display fingerprint sensor.
