Huawei furthers its commitment to India; announces its largest retail expansion to date

~Aims to bring globally renowned innovations and technologies to customers across India

With an objective to expand its customer portfolio and presence in the offline market in India, Huawei Consumer Business group, India, today announced that they are entering into a strategic partnership with Micromax Informatics Ltd. Huawei, along with Micromax will devise fitting strategies that will help the brand gain a stronger foothold in the Indian consumer electronics market.

Under a phased expansion plan, the idea is to be present across the country starting from cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Kochi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dehradun, Kolkata and Jaipur will be targeted amongst others. Currently, Huawei primarily sells through retail partners, to reach out to its existing and potential customers across the length and breadth of the country.

As a brand Huawei believes in democratizing technology for one and all.  Huawei endeavours to bring consumer centric product and technology innovation through their state-of-the-art R&D centre in Bengaluru. Huawei’s R&D in India is driven by local talent who contribute significantly towards technological innovation, with a singular focus on offering unparalleled experience to the consumers.

R&D plays a pivotal role in Huawei’s product offerings and the fact that it invests around minimum 10% of their revenue towards R&D bears testimony towards their commitment towards innovation. Huawei spent over $15 billion in R&D last year. They rank fifth globally in the 2018 EU Industrial R&D investment scoreboard. Huawei’s legacy in R&D investment has made the brand one of the largest patent holders in the world.

Announcing the partnership Mr. Tornado Pan, Country Head (Huawei Brand) Consumer Business Group, Huawei India said “Since our very entry into the Indian market, the brand has been witnessing overwhelming response from all section of consumers. With an aim to be present where our consumers are, we plan to focus on a robust offline distribution network catering to the needs of consumers in urban as well as the rural regions of the country and to make them experience the innovative technology that has won the hearts of customers’ world over.”

The two brands will be seamlessly complementing each other as Huawei has its prowess in the premium smartphones segment and Micromax is popular in mass segment of smartphones.”

As per a recent report from IDC, Huawei is the fastest growing smartphone brand in the world. It sold 200 million smartphones in 2018, setting yet another new milestone. It also managed to ship 100 million devices by the end of May, thus reaching the 100 million mark faster than it did last year.

Huawei has also managed to mark a new 3-month sales record with its P30 series managing to reach 10 million sales in a mere 85 days,  which,  incidentally,  is two months faster than the P20 series.
