Mahindra unveils Marazzo MPV, to compete with Toyota Innova and Tata Hexa
Mahindra unveiled Marazzo MPV on Wednesday, 31 July at an event in Mumbai. The Marazzo has been in development for quite some time as the U321 MPV, with spy shots of the test mule and rumours around the MPV’s features doing the rounds for the past few months.
The Marazzo is likely to be launched by the end of this calendar year or in early 2019. The car’s design has apparently been inspired by a shark and is designed in partnership with Pininfarina. Marazzo means shark in Basque.
Design, Features, Specifications
The Marazzo will be a 7-seater and will introduce Mahindra’s new 1.5 litre diesel engine that is said to develop 121 bhp of power and about 300 Nm of torque. On the inside, the Marazzo will feature a digital instrument cluster. It will have white synthetic leather interiors and will feature roof-mounted surround cool technology to make the climate control system more effective. The roof-mounted air-conditioning console will provide 360-degree cooling, with vents on all four sides. However, this AC console eats up the space that could have been used for a sun-roof. That’s not really a deal breaker given the hot climatic conditions in most of India, where buyers would definitely prefer a colder AC rather than a sunroof.
No further details of the Marazzo have been revealed yet, but spy photos of the vehicle reveal it is about the size of the Mahindra XUV500. The Mahindra Marazzo will likely compete with the Toyota Innova and Tata Hexa.
