OnePlus showcases 5G smartphone prototype at MWC 2019

Smartphone maker OnePlus showcased a 5G prototype smartphone in MWC 2019. The model was launched in Qualcomm Technologies’ booth. OnePlus has showcased its Prototype Smartphone powered by Snapdragon 855 at the MWC as it had speculated earlier.

OnePlus has stated that it has been using Snapdragon 8 chain Mobile Platforms ever since the first mobile the OnePlus One was released. The Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform to power the phone Frontend choices together with the Snapdragon X50 5G modem and Qualcomm RF.
Besides showing off what was happening on the device’s screen, too many information wasn’t being shared by OnePlus about the handset, other than to say it was an entirely new device as opposed to an upgrade to a present phone. However, the company stated that the device would hit a maximum rate of 500 Mbps, although the demonstration content (a 60fps HD flow ) was just using around 15 Mbps. It seemed as though the device’s display didn’t possess a notch, but this might have been concealed for the purposes of this demonstration.

Founder and CEO of OnePlus Pete Lau said “OnePlus is very likely to be booted up with carriers to the phone. It announced it will soon be working closely using EE to eventually become to ever release a 5G smartphone within the UK”. The content being exhibited on the 5G device proved to be a stream of Ace Combat 7 supplied by Shadow, a cloud gaming support which is cross-platform. We had been provided with an Xbox One controller that was linked to the phone via Bluetooth although we weren’t able to play a match with the cellphone’s touchscreen. The match itself has been streamed in the host, from the cloud.

The actual 5G component of this connection was restricted to a small mmWave base channel that had been installed over the Qualcomm booth since Spain’s 5G network is not yet available. The visitors then traveled into the cloud-based server across a conventional internet network.

This installment meant there were lots of factors which influenced the speed of the connection. Whether it was the Bluetooth connection or the fact of that the controller that the telephone was communication with a server over a network that was overwhelmingly not 5G itself felt.
