Huawei’s first launch of 2018 – Honor 9 Lite

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has launched a new Honor smartphone dubbed as Honor 9 Lite with four cameras in India. The new Honor 9 Lite is the toned-down version of the Honor 9 that was launched with dual front and rear cameras in October last year.

Honor had already unveiled the Honor 9 Lite in China back in December 2017. At the time of its launch, Huawei mentioned that it would launch the phone in 14 more countries including India. Now, the company has launched the Honor 9 Lite in India priced at Rs. 10,999 for the base variant. It is a Flipkart Exclusive and will go on sale via Flash sales starting on January 21, 2018.

The 9 Lite shares most of its internals with its budget siblings. For the Chipset, we have a Kirin 659 octa-core. There are two variants with different RAM and storage combinations viz. 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB. Storage is expandable, and 4G and VoLTE both are supported. Due to the relatively small screen size, the battery has been shrunken down a bit to 3000mAh, but Honor still claims that the 9 Lite can deliver a full day’s worth of battery life.

The cameras are of course the main highlight here. Honor has fitted both the front and rear 13-MP sensors with secondary 2-MP depth sensors. These should let you perform tricks like adding portrait effects when shooting with either set of cameras. The rear camera also boats of PDAF for quick focusing.
