Huawei Consumer Business Group, India with its customer centric approach and focus on innovation, announces the EMUI 9.0 for India. The upcoming EMUI 9.0 on Huawei devices will feature key contributions from the Huawei India R&D team– allowing for several localised capabilities. Supported by an intuitive interface, rich features and several new capabilities, the EMUI 9.0 will soon roll out across various Huawei devices.

Developed to “Enable a Quality Life,” EMUI 9.0 is Huawei’s take on the Android P OS, and comes with a wealth of improvements both in the interface as well as under the hood.

With its India first approach, Huawei focuses on localisation to introduce India-specific features such as language support (now increased to 28 languages), design of local calendar as per the Indian market amongst other market specific assimilations. Given consumer feedback, the India R&D has also enabled deeper integration for the PayTM app in the upcoming operating system in India.

Commenting on the recent announcement, Mr. Brody Ji, Senior Product Director, Huawei Consumer Business Group, said, “We at Huawei, are not only focused on offering distinctive user experience, but also enhance the way consumers connect with one other. The recently launched EMUI 9.0 has been developed from a commitment of creating an enjoyable, consistent and simple experience. The enhanced user experience and high-speed performance of EMUI 9.0 come together and enable an unmatched operating system for Huawei phones that is intuitive and simple. We remain committed to our mission of creating not just smart but intelligent devices that add ease and efficiency to the lives of our consumers.”

At Huawei, we see tremendous potential in the India market and are focused on fostering innovation here by bringing cutting-edge technologies to the country. The India R&D team is doing some commendable work not just for this market, but also across our global markets to build the best user experience.”

EMUI specific research is dedicatedly conducted at multiple research institutes across India, China, Europe and North America. Using global talent and wisdom to build the best in class user experience- hundreds of EMUI developers and other local partners from India have worked on the operating system. The Huawei’s EMUI 9.0 is created to “enable a quality life,” where the features of user interface supports consumers in creating better every day experiences and enhance smartphone functions.

Smooth and enhanced user experience:

EMUI 9.0 delivers an enhanced yet simplified and intuitive user experience that draws inspiration from nature.  Huawei has promised 12.9 percent better performance in the latest version of EMUI with better app load times of at least 10 percent compared to the EMUI 8. Led by some of the world’s leading Linux experts, the team significantly optimized the Android system contributing significantly to software applications, language customization and creating updates for its Emotion User Interface (EMUI) for the Indian market. In EMUI 9.0, the essential visual elements are moved to reduce complexity- A handful of buttons have also been moved to the lower half of the screen, providing easy access for users who prefer one-handed operations. Hence, various related features in EMUI 9.0 use the same design language, which makes the controlling of the device much more intuitive for users

Better gaming experience and performance:

Introducing the GPU Turbo 2.0 in EMUI 9.0—it’s the second generation of Huawei’s innovative graphics processing acceleration technology that is based on the foundations laid by GPU Turbo. GPU Turbo 2.0 can enhance touch controls in games and works in concert with the App Assistant feature to deliver a smooth, premium mobile gaming experience. These features all allow for a more efficient user experience while operating the phone.

“Invisible” Navigation Keys

EMUI 9.0 adopts an all-new gesture based navigation system, which enables Huawei to retain the expansive view brought to users via the FullView display, while minimizing the time that users need to learn to use their devices. The new navigation system supports a range of intuitive features that makes single-handed operation an even greater joy. With either a tap or a flick, users can perform all the Navigation Bar actions. As an example, a light swipe on the edge of the screen is equivalent to the Back function.

Digital Wellbeing

Huawei’s EMUI 9.0 will include digital wellbeing features that help user’s better track and manage the time spent on their smartphone. Individual apps are tracked and show users how much time they are spending on each daily. To help reduce children’s screen time, parents have the option of setting usage limits for specific applications. There is also an option for customizing how the screen is greyed out to help users wind down and get ready for bedtime.
