Samsung Galaxy Watch unveiled with AMOLED display, LTE and wireless charge support

Korean Smartphone maker Samsung had unveiled Samsung Galaxy Watch with AMOLED display, LTE and wireless charge support alongside the Galaxy Note 9. The new smartwatch highlights a more sophisticated watch-like design, an AMOLED display and LTE connectivity, among other things.

The Galaxy Watch moves away from Samsung’s Gear-branded smartwatches of old. This is notably part of the company’s efforts to bring its diverse products under the Galaxy umbrella. The Galaxy Watch highlights an AMOLED display with high resolution and Gorilla DX+ Glass on top. The smartwatch is water resistant so you can take it for a swim. It will be offered in two sizes – 42mm and 46mm – along with several strap options.

Samsung announced that the Galaxy Watch will be available in Rose Gold, Silver and Midnight Black. It brings some Gear S3-like features such as LTE connectivity and a battery that will last you “several days.” The Galaxy Watch will come with some typical smartwatch features such as a daily activity tracker and “daily briefing” that will sync with your calendar and show you your appointments.

“At Samsung, we have a long history of providing consumers with choice, while maintaining innovation within our products, and we are excited to continue the proud heritage of our Galaxy line with our wearables,” said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. “The new Galaxy Watch was designed for all lifestyles to help meet consumer needs, such as more efficient battery life to stay connected longer, and better wellness tracking to help users maintain their goals – we are delivering them with connected experiences, all at the touch of a wrist.”

Samsung also said that the Galaxy Watch will come with over 60,000 faces. It also includes a heart-rate monitor which will prompt you to take a break and relax if it detects your heart rate shooting through the roof. The smartwatch will also track your sleep patterns and will provide a data on how well you’ve been sleeping.
