Finally the OnePlus brand revealed its incredible Concept One smartphone at Consumer Electronics Show 2020.  The smartphone was unveiled as the company’s latest concept smartphone. Major Highlights

  • OnePlus has unveiled the Concept One smartphone at CES 2020
  • It also features OnePlus’ signature Papaya Orange shade
  • Collaboration with McLaren
  • The phone comes with invisible cameras at the back

Unveiling the smartphone at the event, OnePlus revealed that the inspiration for the smartphone has been drawn from McLaren’s 720S Spider luxury sports car, which features a retractable hardtop glazed with an electro-chromic glass panel. OnePlus has collaborated with McLaren to build this new smartphone that for now remains a concept device, but could soon become a smartphone that will be sold to the masses.

The glass itself is quite unique. It can shift from opaque black to transparent in just 0.7 seconds. OnePlus has also revealed that apart from colour shifting technology, the glass also brings to the table practical benefit as it acts as a built-in polarizing filter for the camera. It further revealed that the company has used organic particles to create changes in the glass covering the camera lenses to create the invisible glass effect. As per the company, it has used the same electro-chromic glass at the rear panel of the OnePlus Concept One smartphone that was used in the car.

OnePlus claims that this is the most advanced electro-chromic glass ever made and the design of the Concept One shows two glass panels sandwich the organic material between them and measure just 0.1 mm each, with a combined thickness of just 0.35 mm. The glass panel is also being claimed to use almost no power to operate.

As far as the design is concerned, the phone features at the back in McLaren’s signature Papaya Orange shade. The frame of the phone has been revealed to have been made out of an aluminium alloy that’s treated with a new vapour deposition process to give the phone its thin gold finish layer precisely.
