Maruti Suzuki Baleno’s sales cross 4 lakhs units in less than 3 years from launch

And yet Maruti Suzuki has done it again. Indo Japanese car maker’s Baleno has created a niche for itself with sales crossing 4 lakhs units mark in less than 3 years. In details revealed by the Indo-Japanese car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback, Baleno has crossed the 4 lakh sales benchmark in India. The sales milestone has been attained in less than 3 years since the Baleno was launched in October 2015.

The Baleno has been one of the best-sellers in Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa brand and is one of the most popular hatchbacks on sale today – outselling its nearest rival, Hyundai i20 Elite by a massive margin. The Baleno hatchback has been instrumental in the growth and expansion of the Maruti’s premium Nexa sales network, through which Baleno is sold. Maruti sold a total of 44,697 units in the six months of the FY16 which it was on sale for. At the same time, Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa dealership had crossed the 100-mark. In the FY17 year, the sales saw a 100 per cent growth with the figure at 1,20,804 units. FY18 was no different, in fact, the sales surge continued a new 58 per cent hike of the Baleno hatchback, to 1,90,480 units sold. The current year is going to be another easy year for the Baleno premium hatch considering 39,810 models have already been sold, until May 2018.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine which churns out 83bhp of power and 115Nm of torque. The diesel variant gets a 1.3-litre powerplant which churns out 74bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. There is a third variant as well, the RS which is sportier, and a smidge powerful over the standard naturally aspirated petrol variant. The Baleno RS is powered by a 998cc, 3-cylinder BoosterJet engine which belts out 101bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. The added turbocharger makes sure there are no power dips under heavy throttle application and keeps the waste-gate valve closed to preserve boost pressure.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno has not received any facelift or updates since its launch three years back. However, the current market has not yet put out any rivals. The Baleno is priced starting at Rs 5.35 lakh, ex-showroom. Keep watching this page for more updates.
