Maruti Suzuki Cars lead the sales for month of July
Leading Indian Automaker Maruti Suzuki is leading the sales for the last month i.e. July. Incidentally Maruti Suzuki topped the sales for the month of June also. The month of July this year, saw Maruti cars attain the top six positions in terms of sales. The company sold a whopping 1,64,369 units last month; a significantly high figure even though it was lesser than that in July 2017. Following close behind are the cars from Hyundai, even though the total sales figures are way behind that of Maruti Suzuki.
The majority of the Indian population still prefer Maruti cars over any other models. The brand reputation which has developed over the years and the excellent service network in the country are some of the major factors for Maruti’s market success. However, July 2018 saw fewer sales for most of the cars when compared to the same time, last year (YOY Sales Comparison).
As evident, following is the table that depicts the sales figures of the best-selling cars in July:
Rank | Model | Sales Figures |
1 | Maruti Dzire | 25647 |
2 | Maruti Alto | 23371 |
3 | Maruti Swift | 19993 |
4 | Maruti Baleno | 17960 |
5 | Maruti WagonR | 14339 |
6 | Maruti Vitara Brezza | 14181 |
7 | Hyundai Elite i20 | 10822 |
8 | Hyundai Grand i10 | 10775 |
9 | Hyundai Creta | 10423 |
10 | Honda Amaze | 1018 |
Maruti Suzuki India’s Dzire holds the number 1 position for highest selling cars in June 2018. Interestingly the top 5 selling cars in June 2018 are all from Maruti Suzuki India. There’s no denying that Maruti Suzuki cars are some of the most popular offerings in their respective segments and the sales numbers are a testimony to that. But the sales of Maruti Suzuki have been showing an interesting trend. For the longest of time, the entry-level hatchback Alto has been the best-selling (monthly sales) car not only for Maruti Suzuki but in the entire country.
That’s not all, the top five highest selling cars in India the month of June were all Maruti Suzuki cars. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire at the first spot sold 24,465 units, the Swift is at the second spot (which has also beaten the Alto) sold 17,291 units, followed by the Alto, Baleno and WagonR respectively.
Maruti Suzuki India is the largest car manufacturer in the country with a market share of over 50 percent and usually, seven out of the ten best-selling cars on a monthly basis are from Maruti Suzuki.
Without any surprise, Maruti Suzuki still dominates the car market in terms of sales figures. Meanwhile, it is interesting to notice foreign-origin brands such as Hyundai and Honda catching up in the market at a fast pace. Again, sales figures might not necessarily mean that a certain car is absolutely the best.
