On Google Chrome’s 10th Anniversary, Google re-designs the Chrome browser
The redesigned Chrome is rolling out across desktop, Android and iOS platforms. The new rounded tabs are in align with the Google’s new Material design. You will also notice more rounded icons, shapes and a new colour palette. The rounded tabs also make it easier to navigate across multiple tabs. The toolbar has been moved to the bottom on the iOS app so that it’s easy to reach.
Omnibox, the unified URL and search bar at the top of Chrome, has also received some tweaks. The redesigned Omnibox will now show answers to results directly in the bar without opening a new tab. Results on public figures, sporting events, and local weather will automatically appear in the address bar. You will now also be able to use the address bar to know if you’ve already opened a tab and switch to it. Google also plans to add the ability to search files from the Google Drive directly in the Omnibox.
Google is making some changes to its autofill in Chrome. The new latest version Chrome 69 fill in passwords, addresses and credit card numbers more accurately and store this information in a Google Account. Google is adding an improved password manager to Chrome that will automatically generate a new password for you and store it.
“Already, we’re working on integrating augmented reality (AR) into Chrome to bring information that you interact with across the web and put directly into your physical environment. Say you are shopping for a couch online and want to see how it would look in your living room. With the power of AR and Chrome, you would be able to place a virtual rendition of a couch in your living room, right from your smartphone. This is just one example of how more immersive experiences on Chrome could help you get things done faster,” Rahul Roy-Chowdhury, Google’s VP of Chrome and Chrome OS wrote in a blog post that talks about the upcoming plans for Chrome by Google.
Google says that it is already working on integrating augmented reality (AR) into Chrome. Google wants to add Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence as the next two big features for the Chrome in coming ten years.
