2nd Edition of India Mobile Congress IMC-2018 scheduled for October 25, 26 & 27 at New Delhi Aerocity

The second edition of India Mobile Congress (IMC-2018) will be held in New Delhi on October 25-27, 2018. It will be organised by Department of Telecom (DoT) and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). The IMC was launched last year in 2017 to provide platform for policy makers, industry and regulators to engage in meaningful deliberations to drive the future direction of telecom sector. The first IMC held in September 2017 was attended by around 2,000 delegates, 32,000 visitors, 152 speakers, 100 exhibitors and 100 start-ups.

The theme of second edition of IMC 2018 is NEW DIGITAL HORIZONS – Connect, Create, innovate. It is expected to be attended by more than 200,000 professionals from telecom industry, encompassing 5G, start-up ecosystem, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Smart Cities and allied industry sectors. The exhibition would feature more than 1,300 exhibitors. IMC 2018 we will also see participation of countries from ASEAN (Association for Southeast Asian Countries). Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) is planning to launch as many as 1,000 apps at one go on the inaugural, seeking a Guinness World Record. The apps will provide a variety of services to the Indian mobile users, covering about 20 focus areas, including digital inclusion, skill development, education, agri-tech, disaster management, apps for the Telecom Department.

The IMC is working with Nasscom, IIM-Ahmedabad, Startup India, incubators, investors, educational institutions, banking and telecom sectors to support its engagement with start-ups. An official of the Guinness Book of World Records will be present to witness the launch of 1,000 apps at the three-day event, beginning October 25.

The IMC, promoted by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), has announced a challenge for start-ups to develop apps in various sectors. The IMC is being promoted on the lines of Barcelona’s World Mobile Congress as a one-stop-shop expo destination for the mobile industry in India and South Asia.

The three-day conference will be held at the Aero City in New Delhi. There will be 26 parallel sessions with 150 speakers talking on the future of networks, Internet of Things, Augmented and Virtual Reality and new kinds of content that might be required.
