Vivo X21 to launch on March 19, 2018 – Vivo is reportedly working on the next-generation of smartphones with in-screen display fingerprint sensor. As we had earlier updated you on our site, the brand has already announced Vivo X20 Plus UD and Vivo Apex Concept smartphone with a half-screen under-display fingerprint sensor. Now, it seems that the brand is working on a next smartphone with the same known as Vivo X21.
According to a report by ITHome, Vivo will launch the said smartphone on March 19. The company has started sending out media invites for the launch of the new X21 smartphone. The invite reveals the name of the phone and it also hints that it will feature in-screen fingerprint sensor. However, little is known about the upcoming device, so we suggest you stay tuned with us for more information.
Talking about Vivo X20 Plus UD, the latest smartphone comes with Synaptics Clear ID 9500 in-screen fingerprint sensor. The sensor is placed between the OLED display and the mainboard. Smartphone makers have long struggled to bring out in-display fingerprint scanner. With Vivo finally managed to crack the code, the path is now set for others to follow.
Vivo Apex Concept smartphone, on the other hand, features world’s first Half-Screen In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology, which is built on the success of industry’s first mass-produced in-display fingerprint scanner introduced with X20 Plus UD. Through this, the entire bottom half of the OLED screen present in the phone transforms into a fingerprint sensor, which allows users to touch anywhere on the bottom screen to unlock the device. Half-Screen In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology also enables new usage scenarios, such as the new dual-fingerprint scanning feature in Apex for even greater strengthened security.
