E-commerce Summer deals – Flipkart and Amazon Summer Offers between 13th to 16th May 2018

E-commerce Summer deals – Flipkart and Amazon Summer Offers between 13th to 16th May 2018

Ecommerce Summer sales: As Flipkart, Amazon launch 80% summer sale, others join the fray. It is finally summer sale time when the e-commerce websites are not just raining discounts, but are really coming down with hard-to-miss deals and offers on a range of products – from fashion and home decor to electronics and large appliances. However this year, sale days have taken a different contour particularly due to recent billion dollar deal between Flipkart and Walmart.

The summer sale marks the first neck to neck competition one after the Flipkart-Walmart deal, which has redrawn and in some ways upset the startup e-commerce landscape. Both leading online e-commerce players Flipkart and Amazon India are launching their four-day summer sales today which promise competitive pricing across a broad portfolio of products. It is, however, not limited to these two slugging it out.

“Competition is going to intensify to the benefit of the consumer,” feels Chairman of Aarin Capital Partners and former board member at Infosys, T V Mohandas Pai. “Better price discovery can be expected – this game of e-commerce has no winners unless they are able to get a reasonable price,” he adds.

Flipkart’s ‘Big Shopping Days’ assures massive price drops on mobiles, laptops, TVs, apparel, beauty, furniture and more across a wide selection comprising “80 million products”. However, sales come at a price and in this case, investor money. What the Flipkart-Walmart deal has done is keep the investor community excited about the prospect of the sector in India.

“There has been a big question around the fact that we have not witnessed too many exits in India. This news, however, has set a trend in a positive direction for investors to see the kind of exits they can expect in this market going forward,” says Vikram Gupta, Founder and Managing Partner of IvyCap Ventures.
