The three day event is all set to welcome a creative community bursting with great designers, developers, innovative thinkers and leaders. The India Design Confluence (IDC), is a three day design festival that aspires to promote a shared understanding of the practices in design, exchange of knowledge and future trends within the booming design industry. This year, IDC will be held at the Unitedworld Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, positioning Gujarat as the creative capital of India. Ahmedabad, also known as the Manchester of India, has always been the hub of design and creativity. One of festival’s primary focuses, is to honour the rich design legacy of Ahmedabad with an event of this scale for the very first time.
The event will also be dedicated to bringing a ‘Balanced Ecosystem’ for the collaterals of design in the dimensions of offering sustainability in academics, businesses, people, andthe environment. The team at IDC hopes to achieve all of this through an impressively curated line up of inspiring talks, experiential workshops and presentations; giving young, aspiring designers and creative professionals alike, a chance to network and focus on innovative thinking.
The itinerary at IDC 2018 will include lectures and master sessions from creative powerhouses in the design industry, hands-on workshops that focus on knowledge generation and idea development, paper presentations that involve visual props and illustrations, and panel discussions to trigger a constructive exchange of views.

IDC will host a magnanimous list of speakers including Sunil Sethi (President, Fashion Design Council of India), Rajeev Sethi (Designer, Scenographer and Art Curator), Angela Guzman (Design Lead, Google), Peter Bi’lak (Graphic and Typeface Designer), Carol Hanlon (Founder, Belmont Business Enterprise Centre Inc.), Julian Roberts (Fashion Designer and Academician), Rajesh Kutty (Managing Director, Design Kite Ltd. and Lead Interior Designer, Bentley Motors Ltd.), Annick Jehanne (Fashion Designer and Entrepreneur), Irakli Rusadze (Fashion Designer), JoAnna Petit – Almasude (Executive Director, The Red cART Studio), Kulin Lalbhai (Executive Director, Arvind Limited), Uttam Pal Singh (Head, Discovery Kids, Discovery Communications India), Dr. Preeti Shroff (Dean, MICA), Ar. Rajeev Mishra (Directorate of Art, Government of Mahrashtra and Principal, Sir J.J. College of Architecture), Manjri Vade (Contemporary Artist), PC Sanath (Founder, Firefly Creative Studio), Amitabh Shrivastav (Founder, The Art Kommune) and Pallavi Foley(Jewellery Designer).
Additionally, participants will also have a chance to unwind with a plethora of live performances, a Craft Village for art lovers, and networking dinners to encourage collaboration. One of the major highlights, will be the students from BHU, UID, Sir J.J. College and School of Planning and Architecture displaying their record breaking number of installations created from recycled products at one venue.
The event will proudly bring together national and international experts, academicians, artisans and craftspeople in the design industry to share their own journey, creative process, case studies, perspective and style of working — giving students access to fresh inspiration and diverse opinions from the stalwarts of design as mentioned above. The event is expected to be attended by more than 6000 students.
The India Design Confluence 2018 will be held at Unitedworld Institute of Design, Ahmedabad from 23rd November, 2018 – 25th November, 2018. Presiding the event as chief guest will be Smriti Irani (Honorable Minister of Textiles, Government of India). The event is being organized by Craftroots at Unitedworld Institute of Design.
