In the launch video of Mi TV 4A, the company has teased a smartphone by showing off only the side profile. The teaser also mentions that the new phone will be launched in India on March 14th.
Speculations indicate that the device in the teaser could be the Xiaomi Redmi 5, which was launched in China last December. The Redmi 5 features a smaller display and is the small look alike version of the Redmi Note 5.
The Redmi 5 is expected to be an affordable smartphone bearing an 18:9 aspect ratio screen. The Redmi 5 is priced in China at the equivalent of around Rs 7,999, and is expected to retail in India at the same price. The Redmi 4 is available in the country at the starting price of Rs 6,999.
The Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch HD+ display bearing 18:9 aspect ratio. The device comes with a Snapdragon 450 processor, and runs Android Nougat based MIUI 9. The handset is available in China in two RAM and storage configurations – 2GB + 16GB and 3GB + 32GB. The other features include a 12MP rear camera, a 5MP selfie camera with soft LED flash, 4G LTE and a 3,300mAh battery.
There is not any official update on this by the company.
