OnePlus to unveil its next premium flagship OnePlus 6T in India on October 17

OnePlus 6T is likely to unveil its next premium flagship smartphone in India on October 17. Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus had earlier captured Indian premium smartphone market. The success is attributable to the successful flagship OnePlus 6. OnePlus has captured 40 percent of the premium segment in India in the second quarter of 2018, according to a report by Hong Kong-based Counterpoint Research.

Samsung captured 34 percent share of the premium segment while Apple has 14 percent – its lowest ever. The premium smartphone segment (Rs 30,000 and above) grew 19 percent annually and 10 percent sequentially during the second quarter of 2018, said the report.

The report added, “This is due to the entry of new players in the segment led by Huawei (P20)Vivo (X21)Nokia HMD (Nokia 8 Sirocco) and LG (V30 Plus)”. The top three brands – SamsungOnePlus and Apple, contributed 88 percent of the overall premium market as compared to 95 percent a quarter ago.

Just like its successful predecessor OnePlus 6, the OnePlus 6T will also be a high-end phone aggressive price like that of OnePlus 6. There has being various leaks recently and the news is finally confirmed that OnePlus 6T is finally going to be unveiled in the next few weeks.

Key Specifications of OnePlus 6T

So far there is no official confirmation but based on leaks following are likely specifications of OnePlus 6T:-

  1. RAM & Storage : Up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage

2. Processor : Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and OxygenOS based on Android 9 Pie

3. Design : 6.4 inch AMOLEDWater drop Notch Display, Metal and glass body but No 3.5mm headphone jack provided in this phone, fingerprint sensor embedded on screen, Dash Charging, etc with many features similiar to OnePlus 6.

4. Camera : Triple Camera setup with 16-MP primary camera and a rear camera along with front Camera of 20-MP

As reported by the company earlier “We unlock our phones multiple times a day, and Screen Unlock reduces the number of steps to complete the action By adding this feature as an addition to other display unlocking options such as Face Unlock, users will have options to unlock the display in a way that is most efficient for them,” OnePlus noted in its email. The technology was earlier considered for OnePlus 5T, but at that time it wasn’t good enough for consumers. Now it apparently is. “The technology wasn’t mature enough to meet OnePlus standards for delivering a fast and smooth user experience,” noted the company.

It is worth noting here that in terms of design and looks, the OnePlus 6T is expected to be similar to the OnePlus 6. At least this is what the pattern has been. So far we have seen that the T variant of the OnePlus phone follows the original flagship from the company for that year. Both OnePlus 3T and the OnePlus 5T shared their design with the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 5 respectively.

Keep in view the stiff competition the likely price for the next flagship i.e. OnePlus 6T is between Rs. 33,999 to 37,999.  It is also to be noted that prices may drop compared to earlier OnePlus 6 model due to weak rupee against dollar right now.

Stay tuned for more updates!
