Why Two Wheels Are Better Than Four

Why Two Wheels Are Better Than Four

There’s no denying that most people travel between destinations in cars. After all, they’re comfortable and can carry items such as luggage and other cargo. However, many individuals also take to the roads on motorcycles.

But, why are two wheels better than four when it comes to road transport? It turns out there are many reasons where motorcycles triumph over cars and other light vehicles on four wheels. Take a look at some of those reasons below, and decide for yourself if you agree:

Purchase Affordability

One of the first facts about the cars versus motorcycles debate is the cost of buying your transport. There’s no getting away from the fact that motorbikes are significantly cheaper to buy than budget, premium, and sports cars – even when you compare used examples.

Many car drivers that wish to navigate the roads on new or new-ish vehicles must finance their purchases because they can’t afford to buy their cars outright. In contrast, new motorcycles can often be purchased brand new easily without borrowing any money.

Maintenance

When you compare the cost of servicing and repairs, motorcycles won’t have such a detrimental effect on your bank balance – unlike with cars. A simple oil and filter change, for example, costs a mere fraction of the price you’d pay for the same job on a car.

There are also the tools you need for home maintenance. Again, they’re cheaper to buy for a motorcycle than those you might need for a car. For instance, look here at the cost of battery chargers, and then compare them against the ones for car batteries – especially diesel cars!

And let’s say that you wish to fully maintain your mode of transport at home – including doing full engine rebuilds. The equipment you need to lift engines and mount them on stands during a rebuild is cheaper than what you must buy for a car.

No Left or Right-Hand Drive Worries

If you want to buy a car, one requirement you will have is ensuring the steering wheel is on the correct side for your country of residence. Some nations may have strict rules about the left-hand drive or right-hand drive vehicles.

None of those concerns applies to motorcycles. You could buy a Harley Davidson from America, for example, and import it into a right-hand drive country without restrictions. That means you can always get the motorbike you want, wherever you live in the world!

You’ll Never Get Stuck in Traffic

Lastly, whether you buy a scooter or a touring motorcycle, one fact that applies across the board is that you’ll never get stuck in traffic. When queues of cars, vans, trucks, and heavy-goods vehicles build up in the city, you can simply navigate your way around them.

As you might expect, motorcycles are also great for certain occupations such as courier work and emergency services like the police to reach emergencies quickly. The only downside is you can’t use traffic as an excuse for being late getting to work!
