As we are well aware of Apple Inc. is set to unveil new cheaper iPhones in the coming months. According to leaks the new iPhones comes in the starting price ranging $700 to $750. The news come ahead of unveiling the new phones in coming months and keeping abreast with competitive smartphone market scenario particularly the other global manufacturers offering more features at cheaper pricing.
Apple Inc. is a US multinational technology company headquartered in Cupertino, California. The Company designs, develops, and sells consumer electronics, computer software, and online services. As per leaks, this year iPhone lineup is likely to include two new OLED display-featuring models, Apple is apparently not very optimistic about the premium experience and is now reportedly expecting that LCD models will make up the majority of iPhone sales in the upcoming lineup. It is reported that the Cupertino giant initially wanted almost equal production of iPhone models featuring LCD and OLED panels, but possibly due to poor demand of the iPhone X that debuted last year with an OLED panel and a massive starting price tag of Rs. 89,000 ($999 in the US), the company shifted its original estimation. Presently, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 series model include LCD panels. Some initial reports claimed that the new LCD iPhone this year will come somewhere between $600 (roughly Rs. 41,000) and $700 (roughly Rs. 48,000).
Citing people involved with Apple’s supply chain, The Wall Street Journal reports that instead of its new OLED models, Apple expects its LCD models to make up the majority of iPhone sales in its new lineup. The company developed strategies considering the weaker demand of the iPhone X than the initial forecasts mainly due to its price tag. Furthermore, it is said that Apple could retain at least one lower-priced LCD iPhone in its 2019 lineup instead of shifting entirely to OLED. This may be a strategic move majorly to offer an affordable option in the market.
Having said that pricing would be in line with the $699 4.7-inch iPhone 8, which would be a pleasant surprise given the big expected jump in screen size. Apparently, Apple is looking to stay competitive with cheaper Android phones with flagship specs. The OnePlus 6, for example, packs a 6.3-inch display, Snapdragon 845 processor and 6GB of RAM for only $499.
“Regarding the prices, it is believed that Apple is bound to adjust its pricing strategies, influenced by Chinese brands that have successfully expanded their market shares with products that offer high performances at affordable prices,” the company said in a press release.
iPhone 6.1-inch Model
It is likely that 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will account for 50 percent of Apple’s production among the three new iPhones launching this fall. Previous reports point to this iPhone featuring a single rear camera, while the iPhone X sequel and iPhone X Plus are supposed to get dual rear camera.
As per calculations, this time around, you could potentially get a huge 6.5-inch screen for the same price as last year’s 5.8-inch iPhone X. The iPhone X Plus will reportedly be the only phone in Apple’s lineup to offer dual-SIM support, which would be a welcome feature for international travelers.
With Apple’s iPhone launch event likely to happen in less than a month away, we won’t have to wait much longer to get the final details.
