German Design Award 2021: The T1 and T5 were honoured with the “Winner” award for outstanding design quality in the category “Excellent Product Design – Entertainment”.

The third generation of the T1 and T5 hi-fi headphones from beyerdynamic combines the legendary Tesla technology to create a superb sound quality in a flawless design. This also convinced the jury of the German Design Award 2021: The T1 and T5 were honoured with the “Winner” award for outstanding design quality in the category “Excellent Product Design – Entertainment”.

The German Design Award is the international premium prize of the German Design Council. Its goal is to discover, present and honour unique design trends. The German Design Award, which was established in 2012, is regarded as one of the most renowned design competitions worldwide and is highly respected in professional circles. The “Winner” award for the closely related T1 and T5 headphones honours the outstanding and exemplary implementation of design achievements within the context of a specific category.

Architecture served as a source of inspiration for the timeless and yet extraordinary design of the headphone models. Senior Product Designer Juliane Eckstein explains the development process: “It always starts with an inspiration: For the related T1 and T5 headphones, I was particularly fascinated by the design of an architectural façade. As part of the process, I closely examined perforated metal plates with individual patterns. Initially, they appeared to be somewhat random, but after a while you begin to realise that there is an underlying design pattern. The beauty lies in the accuracy and precision that was used to design each individual opening.” Juliane Eckstein goes on to explain what she regards important for each product design: “An integrated design concept requires knowing how to compose the perfect set of materials, surfaces and colours. We have selected a modern, but also timeless design that speaks for itself.”

The T1 and T5 headphone models are not only true masterpieces of design technology. They ensure music enthusiasts can delight in discerning music enjoyment thanks to their precise and transparent sound, which results from the Tesla technology developed by beyerdynamic.
